      Graduate Marketing Trainee Interview

      12 Jan 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Liverpool, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Forrest Bell (Liverpool, England)

      Interview

Short telephone interview, in the main to clarify personal details. Then invited to interview in office with one of managers. Interview was more of trying to see if our needs were matched. Had to fill out a short questionnaire on arrival were I had to rate importance of things such as progression, money and fun! Interview lasted 20 minutes where I didn't really learn anything about the role. I worked out the position was basically to be a sales person in locations such as train stations or shopping centre. Was asked my availability for a working day (unpaid 8:30-5) with a "top seller." Was suggested I would be asked to go to Saturday session, was told application on hold as they were interviewing 42 people alone that day. Never heard back from them, not even a follow up call despite being told I would definitely be contacted. Seemed amateur.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your interview experience with Forrest Bell. We’re sorry to see that you found the experience to be a negative one, as you mentioned we take extra care to get to know our candidates and see whether our values and needs match up as we believe this to be important in creating a fun and engaging workplace. I’m sorry that you felt the role wasn’t fully explained to you during your interview however we do outline the nature of the role clearly in our job postings, and are always careful to address that the roles are based in public venues such as shopping centres. You’re correct in stating that we do invite candidates back for a ‘shadowing’ day as we feel due to the nature of the role it’s important for candidates to experience what they will be doing before committing their time to us. This day is unpaid, as the candidate is not required to perform any duties, however it is also entirely optional and there is no obligation to attend this stage of the interview. Lastly, I would like to apologise that you weren’t contacted after your interview, as with any company our managers are looking for certain qualities in the candidates they meet and may have just felt that you were not right for the role at this time. The best of luck in the future.
