      Assistant Brand Manager Interview

      11 Dec 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tampa, FL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Focus Marketing Events (Tampa, FL) in Dec 2018

      Interview

The entire interview was a big show. They tell you what you want to hear and make big promises (such as "highly structured management training programs"). What the company actually is, is a multi-level marketing scheme. I can't say they are doing anything illegal, but the entire application/interview process was fishy. They advertise this position under a multitude of different titles such as: Entry Level Assistant Manager, Junior Level Assistant Event Manager, Junior Marketing Assistant, Executive Management Training Program, and so on. All these titles are for the same position; selling tech at Walmart and CostCo. You know the people at Costco pushing products in your face? That's this position. I should have known when Brian (the interviewer) asked me if I could meet for my second interview on site, -- on a Saturday --... I canceled my second interview. Be warned and don't waist your time.

We apologize that your interview experience with us was less than satisfactory, but to mislead future applicants is distasteful and very unprofessional. We are very open, honest, and thorough during our in-depth interview process. Our three-part interview process is to discuss the business model and to find the right candidate for our company. In reference to the "Multi-level Marketing Scheme" comment, our legal team also works very closely with the business license and labor boards of North Carolina to ensure that all of our pay structures and business practices are in compliance with their code of conduct. In short, we are licensed by the state to conduct our level of business with our clients and we offer competitive salaries to those who participate in our campaigns. It appears that our business model does not suit your interest, and we wish you the best along your job search.
