      Graduate Trader Interview

      13 Jan 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Flow Traders

      Interview

4 different steps, the first one an online Math Test, consisting on 75 mental calculations. The second one an interview with the responsible HR and the third step consists in an interview with both the responsible HR and a trader of the company. I didn't pass the third one, I know there is a fourth one but I don't know what it is about. I think you are asked to solve a business case. The second interview consists in questions regarding describing yourself and your education, your motivation for becoming a trader and few technical questions concerning the core business of the company. The third interview is more technical. After few minutes describing yourself and your motivation, the trader will start asking you more technical questions regarding the core business of the company. Finally you are asked to solve 2 brain teasers in a given short time ( I remember 2 minutes for each brain teaser). I suggest to strongly prepare for all the interviews and the Math Test. The firm will give you very useful indications on how preapring each step in the best possible way.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

First brain teaser: "Watermelon is 99% water. I have 100 pounds of watermelon. After a week, drying in the sun, the shrivelled watermelon had only dried down to being 98% water. What is the total weight of the watermelon now?" Second brain teaser: "Four people need to cross a rickety rope bridge to get back to their camp at night. Unfortunately, they only have one flashlight and it only has enough light left for seventeen minutes. The bridge is too dangerous to cross without a flashlight, and it’s only strong enough to support two people at any given time. Each of the campers walks at a different speed. One can cross the bridge in 1 minute, another in 2 minutes, the third in 5 minutes, and the slow poke takes 10 minutes to cross. How do the campers make it across in 17 minutes?". Different questions regarding ETFs and how hedging a position as soon as Flow Traders buys or sells an ETF. Why do you want to become a trader? Why Flow Traders?

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Flow Traders (Amsterdam) in May 2026

      Interview

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Waaruit blijkt je interesse in financiele markten
