      Pricing Analyst Interview

      2 Feb 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at FlightHub in Jan 2017

      Interview

HR said they would get back to me a day/two after the first interview and they never did. It's been 2 weeks now. They would not even take my calls and respond to my emails. I get a lot of lack of professionnalism from folks in HR. The one from FlightHub is the worst I've seen yet. I don't believe this right now. However it begins to make sense when you read the horrible reviews people have for FlightHub's services. Apparently the problem with FlightHub is way beyond its HR. At this rate, this company might collapse before it's 10th anniversary.

      Interview

I was contacted very quickly after applying - less than in a week. But then HR called me on the wrong day - one day prior to the one we agreed to. I was a bit confused, as I thought that this was a call to clarify something, but it turned out to be the real interview.

      Interview

FYI, location is far from downtown (Saint-Laurent, close to IKEA or Cote-Vertu Metro). There's not much around the area other than Place Vertu. The place is in a commercial building beside that shopping mall. The office is not super big but apparently they also have some office space in two other floors. From my conversations with them, they said they're rapidly growing with about 100+ employees at the moment. The process for this anyway is the following: #1: Phone screening by HR #2: Interview with manager #3: Interview with a senior executive #4: Interview with manager and senior executive Only did #1 (phone screen) and #2 (interview with manager). For phone screen, went through my CV, talked about my background, what my ideal job is, what I'm looking for, why I liked research/being an analyst (relating to previous jobs), salary expectations, and availability. Then, the HR talked about the company, the role, benefits, etc. Said they were growing rapidly and hiring lots of folks. After phone call, later in the day, I was scheduled for an in-person interview with the hiring manager. In-person interview was, as mentioned, with the hiring manager. Like others have mentioned, no "trick" questions. Was a casual conversation. Manager described what the role was (talking about the two aspects of it), what the company is like, etc. Seems like they're looking for cultural fit more than anything. Asked about my background, what my ideal job, what kind of boss I'd like, what kind of working environment do I like, also asked about how others would describe me in my previous jobs, where I see myself in the future, etc. Most folks seem pretty young, driven, and trying to maintain the startup vibe despite rapidly growing. From my end though, I didn't feel like it was a good cultural fit in terms of what I was looking for. Props to them though since I found that out by the questions they asked (it wasn't about what "I" could do for them but it felt more like, if what I was looking for/wanting for a position fit with the kind of profile they had in mind with their candidates). From what they described, this job seems to be mixed with monotonous work (similar to data entry) but also some analytical work (trying to figure out how to work with how to balance lower prices with revenue).
