I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Flavor Focus (New York, NY) in Jan 2018
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter who thought that I would be a great fit for filling a position that was open within the company. They scheduled an interview over the phone between me and a couple members of the company. I was very eager for the opportunity to start my career with an entry level position in the flavors industry, however this was not at all what I was hoping for. The interview didn’t seem at all like any interview I’ve had in the past. There was no talking about myself as a candidate or being allowed to ask questions about the job responsibilities or the company. Instead, I was only asked what my hobbies were and then was asked very specific questions about details of work experience that were on my résumé. It didn’t feel personable at all and I would’ve asked to rescind my application for the position had it not been for the same people who had interviewed me to turn me down for the position for not having enough flavors experience. I wasn’t aware that I would need flavors experience to get into an entry levels flavors position, but that’s beyond me since I already have a years worth of compounding experience in the food industry (just not specifically flavors).
