Applied online, through First American careers site. I was contacted a very short time later by a recruiter based out of California, who had several questions relating to my relevance to the position. Once I satisfied her of my suitability, she let me know they would be getting back to me to schedule an in-person interview.
The next day, after a short phone call and a confirming email, my interview was set.
At the in person interview, conducted by supervisor of the position, everything was exceptionally professional, yet comfortable. The supervisor did a great job of not just asking questions but also listening. I cannot stress how important this was, in establishing the "feel" of the company. The supervisor was also discreetly honest about the challenges associated with the position, in addition to explaining the benefits. At the conclusion of the interview, she let me know they would be in contact soon to arrange a meeting with the overall manager. This scheduling was done the next day, also by a phone call followed by a confirming email.
At the second in-person interview, I met with the overall manager who was responsible for the position. She was also an excellent listener and spoke with candor about the position as well as the potential for advancement beyond the position. At the end of the interview, the overall manager indicated that they hoped to extend an offer to me, which they did only a few days later, contingent on background and drug testing.
The only hiccup in the process was the background check company, HireRight, which seems to employ a group of people who are both less than cordial and are thickly accented. I don't have your average background, so, after a couple not nice phone calls with HireRight, I ended up working the details out with one of recruiters at First American, who was both nice and greatly helpful!
