Wow, several red flags in a 15-minute phone screen. I applied to a "Marketing Specialist" role online, then realized the title changed to "Growth Marketing Manager" in the emails. This was for a role marketing their new SNOWPEAK AI branded product, so I reviewed their website to find it had very generalized messaging with no value proposition, no product images, no use cases--clearly a work in progress. Interviewer goes on to tell me I would be the only marketing hire CONTRACTED to work with the newly hired president and I'd need to do everything from strategy to execution. I'm then quizzed on what my marketing plan would be in the first 2-3 weeks on the job. Marketing plan...who is your customer? What's the product-market fit? Is there any budget for marketing activities: content, ads, social media? I would have to discuss that with the boss--and screener insisted there are Snowpeak social media pages; I must be looking at the Finfare website. I wasn't. ;)
I removed myself from the candidate pool. Based on this call and the Glassdoor reviews, this place sounds like pure chaos.
