      Financial Representative Interview

      20 Jun 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Roslyn, NY
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Roslyn, NY) in May 2021

      Interview

I applied to Fidelity as a Financial Representative online with a cover letter. Within two hours, I heard a response back, from the Assistant Branch Manager. Our interview was focused on my cover letter, my character, and my knowledge of Fidelity. I have been a customer of Fidelity for a while. So I already knew some background of the company. One of the downfalls of the interview was, since I was a college student still, I was being questioned of my ability to get accepted into Fidelity by his manager. Despite concerns of his manager, he let me go through to the next round of interviews. Within two weeks of the last interview, I was scheduled for a second round interview with the Branch Manager. There was little to no questions about the Finance industry. The interview was focused more on my experience in Customer Service, problem solving, my previous leadership and college experience. Both interviews were done over Zoom. I truthfully believe the questions in the interviews are going to be based on yourself as an individual applicant and the role you are applying for. At the end of the interviews, I was told by the end of the week, I would get communication from HR whether I would be accepted or not. The next day from the final interview, I received a contingent offer. After you take the contingent offer, you move on into the administration process of getting hired into the company. Fidelity outsources its Background Investigations with First Advantage, where they do an intensive check into your employment history from 10 years back. I had to explain all the years of unemployment, including years, I was under age, in high school, or in college. They also complete an intensive check on your credit history. In addition, you will be responsible for providing fingerprints and complete a drug test. Once you have completed the process you will be notified you have been cleared. From my understanding, the background check clearance, shouldn't be taken 100% serious until you have officially started working at Fidelity on your start date. The interview process, drug test and fingerprints are pretty easy, but the background test is one of the industry toughest.

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Boston, MA) in Nov 2025

      Interview

Brief 13 minute phone call (interviewer showed up late). Interview was very rushed and unprofessional, interviewer cut me off multiple times and did not give me an opportunity to ask him any questions. Keep in mind I was recommended to him by a branch manager. Very disappointed by this first interview round! Besides the interviews extreme haste, the interview went well. Use STAR method and you'll be ok.
