Applied online, then got an email to schedule a phone screen with a recruiter. The call left me excited; the recruiter actually said that the team really loved my portfolio and wanted to know if I was interested in another position that was opening up, if the one I originally applied for didn't work out. She even went so far as to say I would "definitely" be doing late stage interviews with the team. She said the next step would be a 3-day assessment and then further interviews; I followed up after the call and she sent me the link to apply for the other position then said she would get me started on the next steps of the process.
Totally ghosted. Never even got to do the assessment. I tried to cut some slack when it was around the holidays, but I followed up for several weeks and received zero response. Ghosting candidates is bad enough, but to specify that you're really excited about me and my work beforehand makes it so much worse. I understand things change, but at least have the decency to respond to my emails about whether I should still be expecting to continue the process as I was told. Ridiculous and unprofessional.
