I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ExxonMobil in Oct 2014
Interview
Met the recruiter at university career fair. Got called that evening to set up an interview next day on campus. The interviewer was friendly and polite. Questions were mostly on my PhD research. All questions we based on the resume. No behavioral questions. Last 5-10 minutes were for the Q&A session. I was told that if selected for the onsite interview I would be contacted in a week or so via email.
Very long process from application to getting a reply from the Hiring Manager. Generally get computer generated replies in email. Very stringent processes, though have applied for a couple, still unable to get replies
The interview process was fairly standard overall. It started with a recruiter screen, followed by a hiring manager interview and a few conversations with team members. The questions were mostly behavioral with some role-specific discussion. Communication was decent, though timing between steps could have been a little clearer.
This interview consists of two distinct parts, and the interviewer genuinely wants to understand your unique personality. Just remain calm, be yourself, and answer every single question with complete sincerity.
