      Interview

Around 7-8 round of interviews. They claimed that the many round of interviews would help them short list the best candidates. But is a candidate performance in an 8 x 1 hour interviews accurate representation of his actual work performance? Can the company not shorten the interview process and let go of wrong hires after the probation period? This company is a joke.

Thank you for taking the time to share your interview feedback with us. We are disappointed to hear you had a poor candidate experience with us and will be sharing your feedback with the necessary teams. Our interview process length can vary, depending on the role and schedules of both candidates and our hiring panel. We have a thorough process to help identify candidates who are not only a great culture fit but also have the right skill sets and drive to succeed within our teams. Our extensive interview loops also give candidates an opportunity to see if ExpressVPN is the right company for them to grow and develop their careers. Our recruiters are encouraged to give candidates regular updates and feedback, so they know how they’re getting along in the process. We are sorry there wasn’t an opportunity for you at ExpressVPN this time around. We wish you all the best in your career journey.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ExpressVPN in Jul 2022

      Interview

The process is quite long, but you get informal feedback almost immediately after each interview, which gives an invaluable peace of mind. - First intro chat with recruiter. - 60mins tech interview with two engineering managers where they ask about your experience and have you solve a very simple tech problem. - 60mins interview on anything that's iOS-related: questions about Swift, algorithm complexity of Swift data structures, UIKit, AutoLayout, etc.. - 60mins interview on a system design: you're told what the system is before the interview, so you can prepare; the interview is just you presenting the system design and two senior engineers asking questions or challenging your choices. - 120mins "Topgrading" interview: you're basically asked to tell the interviewers your entire life, starting from high school until today; questions around why you chose a specific educational institute, why did you leave each job, what have you learned in each position, where do you want to go in the future, and so on. - tech case: you're invited to make a PR to a GitHub project to demonstrate your abilities; after your send in your PR, they schedule a quick 20mins interview to discuss your project.
