      Interview

      Application & Resume Screening Candidates submit resumes and cover letters. Recruiters or hiring managers screen for basic qualifications and relevant experience. Initial Phone or Video Interview A recruiter or HR representative conducts a brief interview (15–30 minutes). Focuses on resume highlights, availability, salary expectations, and basic role understanding. Technical or Skill Assessment (if applicable) Could include coding tests, case studies, writing samples, or task simulations. Used to evaluate practical abilities. First-Round Interview Conducted by a hiring manager or team members. Explores technical skills, problem-solving, and role-specific knowledge. Second-Round or On-Site Interviews May include multiple interviews with team members, leadership, or cross-functional partners. Assesses cultural fit, collaboration style, and deeper technical or strategic thinking. Often includes behavioral and situational questions ("Tell me about a time when..."). Reference Checks Employer contacts former supervisors or colleagues to verify work history and performance. Offer Stage If successful, the candidate receives a verbal or written offer. Negotiation may occur regarding salary, benefits, or start date. Background Check & Onboarding Once an offer is accepted, a background check (and sometimes drug screening) is conducted. Onboarding begins with documentation and orientation planning.
