      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Eurofins (Winston-Salem, NC) in Aug 2023

      Interview

I remember the interview was broken up into two parts: (1/2) 30 minute phone call with a recruiter, and (2/2) a 30-45 minute in-person meeting with a lab supervisor on site. Although they were contracted out to a third-party recruiting agency, the recruiter was genuinely nice and friendly and asked questions about myself and my educational background. Phone call lasted maybe 30 minutes and the difficulty of questions varied on how much of your educational and scientific background you wanted to share with the recruiter. I got the sense that this first stage of the interview process was simply a form of screening to see whether the applicants know what they were talking about. After that, the turn-around for an in-person interview with the lab supervisor and their senior tech was quick. When I arrived early to the site, they made me wait for about half hour until they were ready to see me. The senior tech seemed nice but the lab supervisor had no interest in the conversation/interview. Most of the questions were asked by the senior tech and most of the questions were based on my personality type and how I maneuver around a wet lab/benchtop. Quite frankly, I had over three years of wet lab experiences from undergrad (course required labs and/or undergraduate research), so I am quite comfortable being a lab. However, when I mentioned I was also a collaborative person and I do well with peer-review/feedback and working amicably with teammates, they gave me a look that resembled almost like a sneer. I had mentioned this about myself because I'd be working in a bio- wet lab. So, my logic at the time was to work with people, especially with a senior, who could proctor me and help me build my confidence around the lab, and that way I can produce quality work early in my career. However, the lab supervisor and senior tech apparently did not like that answer, and from there the questions quickly simmered to a stop, and I was told that my interview was done. As I made my final impressions before leaving the site, they told me to be on the lookout for a follow-up response. Trusting that, I left. A couple of months and a few one-sided emails, I realized I was ghosted, however, the same job posting I applied to was still up on their website. How rude. Horrible experience.

      Interview

They were thorough but they kept me updated on every step. Interview questions were common questions that HR asks. There were 3 in total before I signed the offer with a hiring manager, lab manager, and lab coordinator.
