      Visual Merchandiser Interview

      23 Feb 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Salt Lake City, UT
      Declined offer

      Application

The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Ethan Allen in Mar 2009

      Interview

I was living out-of-state and interviewed over the phone 2 weeks before relocating. The interview was really easy and relaxed. The interviewer was mostly talking about personal experiences and asking me about my home town. I was the one actually asking about the position! It lasted about one hour. After I moved, I went to the store to meet the manager - which was the person I had spoken to - thinking I was in for a face-to-face interview but, I was offered the job on the spot.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

No real questions, I actually asked about the position and the manager answered!

      Question 2

Since I was from Canada, the manager kept asking me about my Country...real casual interview.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Ethan Allen (Salt Lake City, UT) in Oct 2016

      Interview

Initially I met with the store manager and the meeting covered typical interview questions and information regarding the company. At the end of the interview I was presented with a case study to complete and a date to return and present the case study. The second appointment I presented the case study and was invited to come back and meet the district visual merchandiser and district manager. I was given the impression that I would receive a job offer at that third meeting. I came again for the third meeting (by this time the interview was going on 3 weeks/1 meeting per week). The third meeting was a rehash of the first interview and much more scrutiny on my interior design degree and skills. This was a little odd because I was applying for visual merchandiser not an interior designer position. The district manager asked about my AutoCAD skills and specifics about my internship experience within Interior Design. I received no job offer and felt like they had wasted a lot of my time. I commuted an hour each way for these interviews. I received a call about a week after the third interview and was given an employment offer. I have a Bachelors degree and work experience and was offered less than I made during my internship. Between the time consuming interview process and low wage I turned down the employment offer.

      Visual Merchandiser Interview

      5 Mar 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Austin, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ethan Allen (Austin, TX) in Jan 2015

      Interview

I had to interview with both CEO & President of the Texas Ethan Allen stores. We met, and walked through both the Austin & San Antonio stores for which I am responsible. I've had a lot of Retail Visual experience, and this is just a part time position, so the decisions, and job offer came quickly. I report to both the President, and the Regional Visual Director out of Houston. The company's Texas stores have gone through a massive makeover, and are ready to profit from all the focused planning and attention. The present senior management for the Texas stores is professional, fair and expects the same conscientiousness from their employees. I've just started this job, but already impressed with the company's demeanor, which was evident from the first interview.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Since it is a part time position, they were curious why I'd apply to it, what were the circumstances in my life that were conducive to my seeking that kind of position.
