      Senior Business Analyst Interview

      29 Mar 2020
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Envestnet (London, England) in Dec 2019

      Interview

It all started with the HR contacting me after they found my profile in LinkedIn. First round was telephonic interview with a panel of 2 senior resources. The telephonic interview took almost 1 hour. After 3 days the HR contacted me for asking whether I'll be available for a face to face interview. Since I had to travel by flight for the interview the company even offered me the travel expenses like flight ticket cost. I reached their office on time for the interview and met the HR. Initially I was asked to prepare a presentation for finding out the ideal software solution (For example, stock management software) by comparing other competitors in the market. I was given more than an hour to do this. Second round was a face to face interview with the Project manager and an a senior resource of the team. The questions were mainly asked about my previous experience on projects that I have worked on, Methodologies used, Role played by me on each project and the different Tools used for implementing the same. This round almost took 1 hour of discussion. Next round was with the Department head. This was a short round where questions were asked to test the understanding of the Finance domain. Like trading, stocks and Banking functions. The final round was with the HR head who discussed about my previous employers work culture and how will i handle some situation if it arises in the work environment. The overall HR experience was excellent. They even provide candidates with complimentary meals as part of their policy which was a new experience for me.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Envestnet

      Interview

Overconfident almost arrogant recruiter bragging that Envestnet is the greatest place on earth. It was very off putting but I pushed on to give the benefit of doubt. I was wrong, it was a foreshadow of the experience to come Initial phone screen was cordial and easy going. Seemed like I was wrong to doubt what this could be. In person interview as basically an ambush; interview by panel. No warning, no warm up, just six people in a room staring at you. While they spoke one at a time, it doesn't matter since six people are waiting for your response. "here's a marker there's the white board now.... go" The beginning of the interview was pretty basic until they started asking unformatted questions. Their questions only made me ask more questions to explain what their goals are. All answers were open ended making it even more frustrating. Nothing would narrow what they wanted me to do.

Write a SQL select statement and other queries. Personnel situational questions Create a UI.
