I interviewed on site at an event. I was asked to send an email after the interview confirming why I was best for the job.
I was told she interviewed 10 people that day, and 2 came into training. I imagine only 5 people actually emailed so the chances to be hired are good.
When I went into training, at 9am, on a Saturday, at Manhattan Beach, I had to ask and was informed that training was not paid, and given some "we're a non-profit" guilt trip (While they're in an office overlooking the beach...)
They never told me that training would be unpaid, and I believe this was a bait-and-switch to deceive potential employees. Their workforce is 19-25 and perhaps naive.
After spending 5 dollars on parking for the interview, driving 40 miles round trip, and wasting 6 hours of your Saturday morning and afternoon on them, I guess it seems like you have nothing to lose by showing up to work on Monday, but this is completely unethical.
I'm sure their Hollywood founders are pretty out of touch with real life in their Beverly Hills houses, thinking they don't have to pay 9/hr employees for training. What a joke!
