Application
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Echoing Green (New York, NY) in Mar 2022
Interview
I spoke first with a recruiter and then was quickly scheduled for a zoom interview. (There was quite a bit of rescheduling) Had a half hour zoom interview and then was told I would hear back from the recruiter.
The phone screening was outsourced to a 3rd party. The zoom call was in audio, and the interviewer was in a loud environment.
The interview was started with the interviewer saying sth like "please stick to the question and do not elaborate. you may answer the questions i would ask later".
Throughout the 30 mins, the interviewer was obviously reading from a script. He was indifferent to anything I said (no follow-up, no "thank you". only "the next question is xxx".) He kept shooting questions at me and hung up right after his script was run out.
After going through the process, I came to understand why he gave the reminder. The questions were somehow overlapping. I had a strong feeling that the interviewer created and asked the questions against a rubric. Good intention but poorly structured.
Given the experience I would actually prefer communicating with an answer machine/robot. At least, the indifference was anticipated.
The interview questions were common, but the experience was extraordinarily upsetting.
