I applied last fall, and was initially contacted to set up an interview in early February. The interview was over the phone with 2 ESRI employees. They asked me to describe my educational and professional background. We also discussed my interest in the position. There were then several technical questions related to both GIS and software engineering.
The interview was very relaxed and conversational. Within a couple of days I heard back from the recruiter saying that the interview had gone very well and she would like to set up a phone conversation to explain the offer they were giving. The next phone conversation was again very relaxed. The recruiter explained, in detail, the offer and discussed options for finding housing.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable interview process.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Some along the lines of: "If your work was like a TV show, would it be more like Law and Order or 24"? This was very unexpected, but the interviewer did a good job of describing what they were getting at.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ESRI Poland (Redlands, CA) in Nov 2012
Interview
Met my recruiter in a campus job fair and gave my resume. He passed it on to other hiring managers and I was contact by another HR. They scheduled phone interview with 3 different people on three different days (Each interview was for 30-45 minutes). Finally I got a call from HR asking to schedule a date for onsite interview. Went to Redlands california for onsite interview. It was a day long interview. I was interviewed by 12 different people (mostly one to one interviews). Questions were mostly related to my undergrad projects, master's thesis, and my job experience with my previous employers. Though it was a tiresome day, people were really friendly. Got my acceptance within 10 days.
