Took a survey to rate my skills from a 1-10, was told not to fill past 5 if I wasn’t proficient at that subject. Being as how I was still in college and about to complete my associates for web design I didn’t fill out anything past 5. I get to the office and they have me take a 2-3 hour test on web design , JavaScript etc. I didn’t do so well on the test but it was an internship so I had a lot to learn. I sit down with the manager and starts berating me almost raising his voice at me saying “Why do you say you’re this good at JavaScript and scored so low??!! How do you expect me to pay you at all!” He then looks at my resume and sees that I’m still in college and forgot that I’m applying for an internship not a paying job. So he apologizes for a bit and asks his sr programmer if I’m fit for the job. To which he says no. Feels bad that he would leave the pressure of rejecting me to his sr.engineer but that’s what happened. I walked out almost in tears because of what happened, I thought the interview process for all companies was gonna be as grueling as that since that was my first time applying to an office based job. Thankfully I never worked there, the manager was yelling at someone on the phone and I thought he was just having a bad day but it didn’t seem that way he was just mean in general.
