I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at EControls in Dec 2024
Interview
A phone interview with the hiring manager. I aced all the questions. I was nice during my interview. However I didn't get an offer because the manager said there was a culture problem. I don't know what he was referring to because he did not see me in person he just talked to me on the phone briefly. The interviewer seemed very much a recluse and scared of his own shadow when he talked. So maybe my being nice scared him a little bit.

Interview
Very rapid pace. Put in resume/app on Monday, got called for a Interview later that day, had an interview on Tuesday, and went in for an in person on Thursday. Got to tour the facility, and meet many people. Very nice buildings. However, once we got down to it, the way they run things for IT is a bit dated. No SCCM, just WSUS. They update their servers manually every month or other month (yes, login, and start the update process to reboot the systems, over the weekend, 2/3 of their 400 servers). When I asked why they do that, which takes time away from your employees families on the weekends when it can be automated, I got a not so good response. This position also requires to share all duties with all positions of IT. Help Desk, Desktop, Sys Admin, and some networking. I heard enough and saw enough to make my decision that I would not want to work for this company no matter the pay. IMHO, it takes the sys admin away from making things better for the environment and researching more ideas when they have to do all the positions when they are not busy at that point. However, the staff I met, were all polite.

Question 1
How would I feel about working for a company like them? Would I mind doing more than system admin, and do some help desk, and desktop support?
