I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Dragon Fly Designs (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2021
Interview
The interview consisted of a group Q&A and then a test project. It seems as though they did not narrow down any of the applicants, as the group Q&A was a zoom call with over 40 participants. Then, the project was sent out to all of us. This essentially led to a huge waste of time because the project was long (took hours to complete) and nobody vetted my resume/experience/portfolio beforehand. I don't mind doing test projects for a potential job, but I would at least appreciate that they look at my resume first to see if I'm a good fit. It's very exploitative to ask over 40 people to work for free for a few hours out of their day, without even having the courtesy of vetting them first. This just seemed very unprofessional in my opinion. On top of that, the job is a freelance/contract position (so that they don't have to pay you as much- the pay is terrible) but they want you to commit to working for them long-term. It also took them over a month to even get back with me on the job.
