      Product Analyst Interview

      10 Feb 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at DraftKings (Boston, MA) in Nov 2020

      Interview

Phone screening followed by case interviews with members of the team. I found it difficult to participate in case interviews over the phone as you’re expected to jot down numerous details on the fly with pen & paper.

      Product Analyst Interview

      31 Oct 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DraftKings (Boston, MA) in Sept 2022

      Interview

After passing a phone screen, I participated in an initial "case interview" which was just basic statistics using expectation functions (think econ 100 micro stuff, basic cost benefit). Then, I did a more rigorous case study using a sample situation without data or numbers that was mostly about how you thought through the problem. My example involved transit and involved thinking about how to diagnose a delay issue given some available data and information about the system. Finally, I moved on to two regular interviews with people I would be reporting to or working alongside, along with one final case interview with the department director that dealt more with data that I might have used in the role. There was also one other interview with a product manager. I found that one the most difficult, as I had to answer conceptual questions as opposed to just mathematical ones. The recruiter works with you throughout the whole process and is very helpful. I actually had to reschedule something at the last minute due to a sudden situation, and the recruiter was able to quickly help me reschedule my interview. Overall, it was a long process, but reasonable. Took probably 3 weeks from beginning to end, as I was contacted the day after I submitted my application. Only one interview, the one with the Product Manager, I found particularly difficult, as I think the "case interview" questions were fairly straightforward and involved simple math. With enough practice, one should be good with these (it's not like a consulting case interview, for example).

      Product Analyst Interview

      14 Mar 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at DraftKings (Boston, MA) in Aug 2022

      Interview

I went through a few steps. 1st was a recruiter call, which was completely normal. Recruiter was great. 2nd was a really simple case study with expected values and probability over the phone. 3rd was a basic case study on camera with diagrams. Had to do with measuring transit users on a subway. Nothing too tough there. The final round was a collection of interviews with various tech and product people, I think with three. One of them was the boss of the boss I would have had, and he did a case study interview with me as well. The other two were more cultural and product knowledge. The product one was probably the toughest, but that's because I had a lot less experience thinking about those things. Definitely go in prepared to talk about measuring customer success with applications. I ended up declining and taking an offer with less pay. The only reason was because I was really skeptical about the specific product I was working on and how it might contribute to gambling addiction. Unfortunately, I didn't get a sense of the product side I'd be working on until the last round. My advice to DK would be to try to frontload that more and make sure the recruiters are better prepared to speak to what you'd be working on.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How would you create criteria to determine whether a new feature in an application was a success or failure? (Specifically related to daily fantasy products)
