      Customer Success Manager Interview

      28 Oct 2020

      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Docusign

      Interview

Have you ever been on a date and had the time of your life and then got ghosted and wondered how did you miss the signs that the other person wasn't interested? That's how my interview went with DocuSign. I applied online and received an email from the recruiter a month later. In the email she requested my availability for a candidate intake/screening call. I provided dates and times in their online scheduling system and waited. A few days later the recruiter got back to me with the scheduled time for our call. I am pretty certain that was not one of the dates I provided in the system, but I went ahead with it anyway because I was excited to move forward. It was your typical screening call. The call went well and she said I would be referred to the hiring manager for the next interview. While I waited to confirm my scheduled interview time I sent an email to the recruiter with a question about the interview, plus a follow-up email that went unanswered. (I actually received an email response DURING my interview with the hiring manager). My interview with the hiring manager was fantastic. In fact, it was one of the best interviews I've had in my entire career. The hiring manager was enthusiastic and praised my responses and the questions I asked. The interview flowed and we had a comfortable rapport. I left the interview very confident that I would be called for the next step in the interview process. Less than 3 hours later I received an auto-generated message that they went with another candidate. My gut reaction was that it must have been an error as I had such a wonderful interview. I sent a follow-up email requesting feedback. It's now been almost a month and I've heard nothing else... so I guess this means my interview didn't go as well as I thought. Or maybe it did go well and there really was someone else who was a better fit for the role. What I didn't appreciate was the lack of response from the recruiter after our initial call and the auto-generated rejection email. Once you've had a formal interview with a hiring manager, the respectful thing to do is to send an email directly from a person. Since that interview I've seen other roles at DocuSign I'm interested in but am hesitant to apply. Do I want to work for a company that treats their applicants rudely? Or maybe my quick rejection and silence from the recruiter is a sign they don't want me working there. The mixed signals have left a very bad taste.

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Docusign (New York, NY)

      Interview

Seamless and enjoyable interview process. Both the lead recruiter and recruiting coordinator were incredibly accessible and transparent about the process and keeping me updated. Entire process took about 2 weeks with 4 calls and one presentation. Everyone I met with was energetic and took the time to understand my background and answer all questions DocuSign! This by far was the most efficient interview process I’ve been a part of.
