I interviewed twice, after the first interview I almost didn't come back. There were 2 individuals (men) in the room and I (a woman) was being asked standard interview questions when a third man came into the room. He sat down, we derailed our conversation to chat a bit when this individual began a solid 2 min rant compalining about his wife, ending it saying "you're a woman, you know how it is". The other two interviewers seemed to clock that it was weird and inappropriate but didn't ask him to leave or call him out - we just continued. I went home feeling absolute disgust. This was the place I was 'wanting' to work?
I opted to attend the second interview in hopes it was a one-off situation, and generally as a woman in the professional space unfortunately we often have to tolerate the 'old guard/boys club' to get anywhere professionally.
The second interview went fine, which was followed by a 1:1 with the CEO. Got hired, moved on. But every interaction with That individual was just as repugnant, but because he was in the company In-Crowd I was never able to come forward because I didn't want to draw negative attention to myself.
