I applied in-person. I interviewed at Dignity Memorial (Houston, TX) in Jun 2026
Interview
Professional. Informative. Listened to questions and concerns. Explained role of position thoroughly. Detailed description of expectations. Pleasant and cordial. Convenient location. Easy parking. Well maintained building. Snacks and water available.

Interview
The interview was very warm, with a friendly atmosphere, but also structured. Come prepared, and dress like you already work there. While the initial process seems very corporate, once you have your local recruiter it feels much more personal, which I thought was a positive.

Question 1
Why did I want to be in the funeral services industry?
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Dignity Memorial (Keller, TX) in May 2026
Interview
Phone screening by assistant manager was vastly different from the in-person intervew. It was apparent the head manager hadn't looked over my resume. Job requires daily on-call availability 7 days a week at 3 locations with minimal notice & at bare minimum pay, regardless of experience. Included a variety of tasks ranging from meeting families to running errands to washing funeral home vehicles; all of which may be required to be done while wearing professional attire. Manager was not professional in the interview questioning & at times seemed verbally combative. The daily on-call schedule wasn't a fit at the $15/hour wage, nor was the toxic conversation. The assistant manager was extremely nice and personable; seemed uncomfortable with some of the questions asked by the manager. When I stood to leave, I thanked both for their time, The manager simply walked away. The assistant manager walked me to the door and thanked me for coming. Start to finish, interview was perhaps 12 minutes at most.

Question 1
"This job requires a minimum of 20 hours/ week but no more than 29. Even if you are scheduled for one event, you could be called to do something additional, or to go to more than one location, or to be available at a different time, or to do something entirely different. Are you good with that?"
