⭐⭐☆☆☆ Interview Experience at Demandbase – FP&A Role (India)
Interview process:
The overall interview process was fairly rigorous and structured. It included multiple rounds with FP&A leadership, a case study assignment, and discussions with the talent acquisition team. The case study was relevant and required building a financial model along with strategic recommendations, which was a good evaluation of real-world skills.
Positive aspects:
* Exposure to senior leadership during the process
* Well-designed case study aligned to the role
* Clear focus on business partnering and strategic finance
Areas of concern:
The experience towards the final stage was disappointing. After completing all rounds (including a detailed case study), the final discussion with senior leadership quickly shifted to compensation. When I shared my expectations (which had already been discussed earlier in the process), the conversation was abruptly ended due to a budget mismatch, without any attempt to explore middle ground or close the discussion professionally.
There was also no follow-up communication afterward, despite having progressed through an extensive interview process. Given the time and effort invested by candidates, a more thoughtful and respectful closure would be expected.
Suggestions for improvement:
* Align on compensation expectations earlier in the process to avoid late-stage surprises
* Ensure a more professional and respectful closure, even in case of misalignment
* Maintain communication with candidates who have completed full interview loops
Overall:
The role and team seemed interesting, but the candidate experience at the final stage could be significantly improved.
