      Research Associate Interview

      10 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Delve (DC) (Washington, DC) in Feb 2020

      Interview

The initial interview was relatively easy and featured basic questions about yourself and your interest in the position. If you make it to the next round they then have you produce a raw skills assessment test by doing research on a person or issue. After this point, I have not heard anything for months and they have done a terrible job staying in contact. Normally I wouldn't be annoyed if I never received a rejection letter, however, I produced a document for them, and then when I sent them multiple follow up emails with no response.

I interviewed at Delve (DC) (Washington, DC)

      Interview

I had a phone interview followed by a skills assessment. The phone call was impersonal and brief. I was asked to find compromising information on climate activists, which indicates company ethics.

      Research Associate Interview

      12 Feb 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Delve (DC) (Washington, DC) in Jan 2019

      Interview

The interview process took FOREVER. I had a phone interview, and then was told face-to-face interviews would be the week of Christmas, which turned out to be false. After New Year's, I got an e-mail requesting an in-person interview. The CEO came off as a jerk. He had the typical socially-inept research personality. He did not bother to prepare for the interview. He just asked me for a copy of my resume and then began interrogating me about it for 15 minutes with the usual questions you would expect from an interviewer who doesn't know what he's doing: "What did you do at...?," "And what did you do at...?" When he asked me about my previous opposition research experience, and I explained to him the methods and strategies my firm used, and he looked at me dumbfounded as though he didn't know what I was talking about. The CEO told me that they would be making decisions the next week. What a liar! I did not hear back until almost 2 weeks later, and only after I told them I was contacted by another company. Given their apparent lack of knowledge about opposition research during the interview, and the lame examples of case studies they give on their website, it seems these people don't really know what they're doing.
