I met with hiring manager and interview went well. I feel we connected and I was excited about the role and the opportunity. BUT, then I met with Head of Design for my second interview, and she was no where to be found for about 45 minutes... so I just sat there, waiting. When she came in, the interiew was very awkward, she was extremely intense. I went through my portfolio, she asked the hiring manager to leave... Then she asked what my salary expectations were... the salary I stated is very normal for a senior designer... and the head of design goes "Oh, shoot. I was hoping you would be much cheaper." The salary they are offering is about $60k too low for the standard senior designer. The senior designer role was a bit strange- no support on the team at senior designer level, only 1 graphic/ cad designer for 3 brands. Too much work and responsibility for the salary range- highest end of the pay range was $84,000. I also know a few people that work there and they don't have good feedback- lots of layoffs, crazy deadlines, and not great environment.
