The interview process was initially positive. I had thoughtful conversations with the team and was asked to complete a take-home exercise as part of the process. I invested significant time and effort into the assignment in good faith. After submitting the requested work, I was informed that the company had decided to pause hiring for the role due to internal restructuring. While I understand that business needs can change, it was disappointing to complete a substantial exercise only to learn the position was no longer moving forward. The team was polite in communication, but from a candidate experience standpoint, this process was frustrating. If a role may be at risk of being paused, that should ideally be communicated before candidates are asked to spend unpaid time on a project. Overall: professional interactions, but a disappointing process and a poor outcome for candidate time investment.
