      Bridal Consultant Interview

      10 Feb 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 2 days. I interviewed at David's Bridal in Feb 2012

      Interview

I called David's Bridal to see if they were hiring and was told that they were and were holding an open interview in a few days and told me the times. I showed up about an hour early to give myself plenty of time to fill out an application. I left to kill some time and came back at exactly 2:30, when they had me wait for almost 10 minutes for others to show up. There were three interviewees and two employees to interview us. I went in with the Bridal consultant position in mind, and it seemed that the other girls were there for customer service, which they had few hours open for. I was qualified for the bridal consultant position but because I had mentioned a weekend schedule conflict, they told me that I might be wasting my time. I stayed for more questions, saying that I was open to the customer service position as well, which was when they told us that there were about 10 hours/wk available (not enough for one person, let alone three). At this point I had given up hope until they asked "Why David's Bridal?". I told them that basically I love weddings and I love dresses - particularly sewing them, which was when they asked me how I felt about alterations. I had not considered starting in that position because all of my experience is self-taught and non-professional (more of a hobby at first but something I intend to go to school for soon). One woman escorted me out of the interview to get me a card of the (at that time, absent) Alterations manager for me to call the next day. I did so and scheduled a meeting for later that day. I showed her some of my work I've done for myself and she had me do a few sewing tests. After I finished, she asked for my DL and SS card, and we went to another room to fill out a form and make a phone call to some tax... thing. I haven't had many jobs so I was still under the impression that I was still only being considered for the position, not already in. I was asked after the tests and giving my cards if I was still interested and I answered positively. I found out that I was hired though the woman on the phone for the tax thing when she asked what the date of hire was, and I realized that they would not be having me make this call if I wasn't already hired or being hired. The women were very nice and polite and things happened very quickly but they could have been a little more organized and I would have liked to know what was going on and that I had gotten the job for sure without being told by someone outside the company. I am currently awaiting a phone call telling me when I can come in to begin training. This all started Monday, the open interview on Wednesday, and today is Friday.

      Question 2

Would this just be a part time job to you, or... where would you go with this? (I translated as a badly phrased version of "Where do you see yourself going with this company?")

      Interview

Basic interview questions. The lady was super nice, a little intimidating. Was asked why I didn’t go to any fashion school, but I proved myself anyway and got the job.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at David's Bridal (Ottawa, ON) in Dec 2016

      Interview

It was a group interview with three other people. We were asked some creative questions in the back alterations room which was a little distracting. It took about 45 minutes and then since they were a bit desperate they hired me on the spot a few days later over the phone. They usually do 1 on 1 interviews following the group interview however.

Thank you for taking time to share your interviewing experience. It sounds like we found you through a team member recommendation. Our employees know what it takes to succeed at David’s Bridal and they do a great job referring candidates that fit that profile! Our interviewing process does normally include a second interview, but because you were highly recommended and clearly did well in the first step of our process, the management team made a decision to proceed with an “offer”. Thank you for accepting our offer and joining our team!
