Met and had basic phone screening with HR, she seemed to be interested. Asked about my experience and told about Dave, nothing special. A few weeks go by with no word, guess I didn't get it?
I applied online. I interviewed at Dave (New York, NY) in May 2026
Interview
The first interview with the recruiter was nice. The recruiter was friendly and explained Dave and what they were looking for in a candidate very well.
The second interview with the hiring manager wasn’t as good. Not only was the interviewer 10 minutes late, but he also briefly mentioned another candidate and started asking questions without much warm-up or a proper introduction because he was already running late. He was very pushy with the interview questions, which made it hard for me to think clearly, even for simple questions, and I wasn’t able to answer them properly. Maybe this was an early red flag that I caught.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Dave in Mar 2022
Interview
The interview process was smooth, quick, and great overall. I had communicated that I had competing offers and they were very accommodating to my timeline.
The first round is a phone screen done by the recruiter. She was incredibly kind and personable. I also asked her for a high level overview of my upcoming interviews and she gave great insight on what I should expect and what to prepare for.
Second round is a 1 hour live coding technical round that is language agnostic. Because of my timeline, I got a response the day of that I was moving forward. Recruiter also provided feedback which I greatly appreciated.
Last round is on-site. Signed an NDA. It's two 1 hour technical rounds and 1 behavioral round. A great experience overall. Also got a response the day of.
All the interviewers I had were helpful in guiding me when it was clear that I was stuck and made me feel comfortable where if I had made mistakes, it was easy to recover because they seemed very understanding and patient.
