A series of Google Hangout interviews was held over a 6-week period. Since the company is a startup, I had the opportunity to speak to everyone, including one of the co-founders. Topics varied from machine learning to experience in classroom instruction. Basically, you pass through a series of checkpoints, which ultimately leads to speaking with the guys at the top.
Apparently, DR has a product that is accessible to data scientists without the requisite programming experience. Although many of the employees have enjoyed success on Kaggle, I do not believe they have any idea of what it takes to develop scaleable models in production environments; however, I think they have found a profitable niche in the market.
The interviewers were friendly enough, but even if you think it may be going well, ultimately you have no idea of the outcome. I demonstrated maximum flexibility in terms of the long interview process, but in the end I received a brief Email from the secretary with no offer. Very classy.
