I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Darktrace in Dec 2024
Interview
I had a screening interview for a CSM role at Darktrace, and it felt more like an exam than an actual conversation. Instead of sharing details about the company, I was mostly asked about it, which made it feel like I was being tested rather than informed.
The second-round interview with the hiring manager started off on the wrong foot. From the very first minute, she mentioned that my experience didn’t align with the position, which immediately made me feel like I was being dismissed. I then had to present a 10-minute case study, and afterward, I received 20 minutes of negative feedback. It felt more like a critique session than a productive discussion.
If the team already believes your skills aren’t a match for the role, I don’t understand why they would invite you to the second round. Overall, it was a frustrating and demotivating experience.
1. Application submitted on LinkedIn
2. Screening call with in house recruiter to assess fit (commercially inclined, technical proficiency etc)
3. Interview with regional director (CSM ways of working questions)
4. Presentation to director and RVP (given task to select a public breach and present how Darktrace would have prevented/helped if it were in place)
5. In person culture fit interview with local team
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- you’re walking into a neglected patch - how would you handle difficult customers?
- how do you collaborate with other teams
- what management style works best for you
- do you keep up with tech/cyber outside of work - if yes, how
- pipeline generation and forecasting
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Darktrace (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2026
Interview
Application on-line, followed by Recruiter screen, which went fine. This was followed a week later by an interview with the hiring manager, which was nice. This was followed a week later by an interview with the VP of Renewals. The last stage was a panel interview and Case Study presentation on a cyber incident of my choosing.
Quick phone interview. Did not make it to the next round. But they were very nice and cordial. The HR person actually tried recommending me for a couple more roles after that.
