Phone screen, in person interview with both HR managers, second interview with the plant manager, HR Managers, and President. The second interview included a plant tour.
The job was offered to me at a rate that was $4,000 less than my original minimum salary requirements. I then discussed again what my minimum salary range requirement was and they offered $2,000 less than my minimum. I notified the HR Manager that I had received a second job offer and wanted to compare both options to see what is the best choice for me and asked for time to consider my decision. I received a very welcoming email that said they really would like me to join the team and I could give my answer on Monday. I then received a call the next day from the HR Manager, withdrawing the offer because they felt I was giving them the "run around" and trying to get a better offer and that I was not giving them an answer and they needed one. I tried to explain that this is why I requested time to review and would have provided an answer sooner if they would have let me know there was a deadline. He then proceeded to say that I emailed instead of calling to let them know I needed more time and wished me the best of luck.
This to me was very odd, as they were being very welcoming the day prior. I was also told that they were very "surprised" to hear that I had another offer. This company continuously belittled my experience and worth during the process and acted as though I should have immediately accepted their offer. They were not willing to pay market value for the position and in the end were very rude. I believe accepting a job is a big decision and you should be given time to discuss with family and look at all options. I am glad that they withdrew their offer or I may have ended up working for individuals who do not value their employees and are disrespectful towards young professionals.
