      Marketing Interview

      8 Dec 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Birmingham, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at DNA Direct (Birmingham, England) in Dec 2020

      Interview

To start, I didn't actually apply for this position, I was contacted by them directly as they had apparently received my details from reed.co.uk saying that I had the background that they required. I received a text message from a lovely woman in the recruitment department I called her to ask more about the position and asked whether this was a commission-based role or an hourly wage. She stated that there were 2 different payment options but that commission based pay would definitely see me earning more money. In the first "interview" I was asked three questions within a 5 minute period, we then moved straight on to a group video slide show where we are then told all about the company and how it worked. The main focus was all about they would frequently go on outings together as a team. The whole thing just felt extremely scripted. After 10 minutes the 'interview' was over and we were told that IF we were successful, there would be "9 - or maybe 10 people out of the 40 people we would be interviewing today" that will receive an email, the same evening, about a second interview the next day. 2 hours later, I had already received an email inviting me to another zoom interview at 8am the following day. I was baffled about how I made it through to a second interview with a hurried 3 question first round. Regardless of that red flag, I continued about my day and prepared myself for the second interview. The next day, I was up bright and early and ready for my interview. The second interviewer was excellent! She really wanted to know what I want from my career and what my long term plan was. I was actually started to feel like this was turning into a proper interview, but then the scripted presentation started again but it wasn't exactly the same as the first. No, this time it was different, talking about the different types of marketing that they do, and how all of the marketing is done through Direct Marketing (aka. door to door and street selling). There was talk of host events, but I got the distinct feeling that the events were just a pop-up gazebo in the middle of town. She then went on to speak about about the position is 100% performance-based (aka, commission-based work), and how much you could earn on a weekly basis depending on what tier you were working in. At the end of the interview, you are then asked to screenshot the questions on the screen and reply to them in an email to the CEO . As another reviewer said, it all feels very MLM and suspicious.
