      Product Security Engineer Interview

      16 Jun 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at CrowdStrike (Washington, DC) in Jan 2024

      Interview

I applied for the Product Security Engineer, Software Assurance (Remote) position through the company website. A recruiter reached out to me soon after, exuding enthusiasm about how I seemed like the perfect fit for the role, given my extensive experience.. When the recruiter asked about my salary requirements, I listed a range near the top of what was specified in the job description. However she mentioned it would be challenging to meet that figure because others on the team at the same level had much less experience. Throughout the process the recruiter communicated with me several times while arranging my technical interview, frequently asking for my patience, which I provided.. However, she would often message me late at night and on weekends? It was unclear if this indicated the company's communication style or just her approach, but I regret not asking for clarification. When I finally got to the technical interview, it was conducted by someone who would be on my team at the same level.. This individual appeared unsure of themselves, likely due to their significantly lesser experience compared to mine. This set the tone for a unprofessional interview experience, where I was treated with a noticeable lack of respect. It felt as if they were trying to discredit my qualifications and experience? questioning everything I said to rattle me. This isn't a great way to start a professional relationship, especially with someone who would be a peer on the same team. This experience has left me with a poor impression of CrowdStrike's hiring process.. The interview felt biased and disrespectful, and it seemed more focused on discrediting my experience than understanding my capabilities. While CrowdStrike is known for it's advanced technology and security solutions, this experience has significantly tarnished their image for me. I hope CrowdStrike reconsiders its interview approach to better appreciate and evaluate experienced professionals. This would prevent the loss of valuable talent over minor misunderstandings. Based on this experience I would not consider CrowdStrike for future employment or their products for my security needs? Furthermore, I wouldn't hire the individual who interviewed me, and I sincerely hope they receive the mentorship they clearly need.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

One of the technical questions asked was about a specific type of software supply chain vulnerability. Given my recent completion of several security certifications, I found this question particularly frustrating because it wasn't covered in any of the exams or study materials.. The question felt excessively specialized?
