The interview was okay.
The issue was that they asked me to complete a test task: a standard LeetCode-style SQL section and a more time-consuming A/B-testing analysis.
I didn’t pass the SQL section because I don’t use SQL often in my day-to-day work. I told the recruiter that, for this reason, I was withdrawing my application.
A month later, the VP of Analytics & Data Science reached out to me on LinkedIn and suggested that I submit the A/B-testing analysis anyway, saying the SQL section wasn’t actually relevant. That should have been my first sign that something was wrong with their hiring process (why include a SQL section if it isn’t relevant?), but I only realize that now.
I sent my analysis, and then the VP made excuses (e.g., their colleague was at a wedding) and ignored me for several days until I followed up again. He then wrote that they had decided to proceed with another candidate, which seems inconsistent. I really recommend avoiding this company.
