I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at CraftJack (Evanston, IL) in Oct 2013
Interview
First contact was with a recruiter of their parent company (HomeAdvisor) for a quick phone screening. She went down the list of the job description to see where I was at with each point. I think they just wanted filter out any weirdos or complete mismatches. I got scheduled for an interview at their Evanston office the next day since I was available.
I met with the CEO in his office and the CTO joined in via video chat. I was asked about my experience and my familiarity with technologies the team currently used. They made me feel comfortable being honest about the areas I wasn't experienced in, so I wasn't under any pressure to stretch my credentials, cool. Then, I was asked more character/personality questions; my guess is they were trying to see how well I'd fit in.
I left the interview with a 50/50 feeling whether I was a strong candidate. Even though I felt OK coming out of it, it seemed like too much of a dream job and perhaps I didn't have enough experience. I was told they needed to interview a few more candidates and that I'd hear back within a week or so. I got a call 3 days later from the CTO with an offer.
