I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Cracker Barrel (Hamilton, NJ) in Jan 2014
Interview
Lengthy interview process, had to hand write answers to many questions. It was overall thorough and pleasant. Questions were very standard, except I was tripped up on the one question that I explained below. Didn't know how to answer it but still got the job!

Question 1
If a server drops a bunch of plates, a customer is very unhappy at the register, and another server needs help carrying out plates to a large table, where should you go first?
The interview was easy. They know most of these servers are just starting out. But they want you to know how to upsell, and how to work in a fast pace environment.
I applied online. I interviewed at Cracker Barrel (Shrewsbury, PA) in Nov 2025
Interview
It went pretty well, just asked the norm, such as tell me a little about yourself and why do you want to work here. Just asked simple questions and told me I had the job and what day to come in next. I applied to be a server and they told me I would get 25 hours a week, but they ended up making me a to-go specialist and I’m getting like 6 hours a week. I also didn’t get scheduled for a month after my interview but I’m working a bit now.

Question 1
Give me a situation with a difficult customer and how you handled it
Very easy, seems like they were looking for a pulse. Mine was done at the checkerboard in the dining room. not a difficult job, so not a difficult interview. I don't remember any specific questions
