I had 2 interviews. The second interview was with the hiring manager and an associate from another location. It was fine, but the hiring manager appeared disorganized and uninformed about the position she would supervise. She honestly humiliated herself by disclosing she had worked there for about a decade and still hadn't been certified for a skill incumbent upon a position she was to supervise. When I gave some insight on how to improve the situation, she took umbrage. The other associate seems entirely disengaged from the interview process and simply read a few questions from a sheet of paper. The hiring manager said the interview was great and she said she would immediately get back to me. I immediately informed my wife I wouldn't take the job. I am actually a grad student at the university. I already accepted another job. I just wanted to see how long it would take for them to get back to me. They didn't. When I emailed them days later, I told them I would rescind by application by COB the next day if I didn't hear anything. I got an email back a few hours later claiming they would hire another candidate. It was a blessing in disguise. Even during the interview, the hiring manager admitted they have high turnover. I am happy in my new job. I suggest that HR be present during the second interview to monitor the process. Insecure managers can damage an institution. When a prospective employee raises a potential solution to a company problem, neither the candidate nor the solution should be swept aside. This is Management 101. It speaks volumes. I will be sure to use my experience in my grad research. I should have seen the Glassdoor review before I applied.
