I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Color (San Francisco, CA) in May 2021
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter from a staffing company called RocketPower regarding a position for IT support staff at Color. I voiced my concern that the position would not be a lateral career move for me as I was currently in a Sys Admin position. She allayed my concerns by enticing me with the ideal of other IT related job offerings more in line with my experience level.
Two weeks later, I get contacted by the recruiter for a scheduled Zoom interview with the hiring manager for the position of IT Helpdesk Manager. There is nothing in my resume or LinkedIn profile that gave any indication of managerial experience, but I decide to give it a shot anyway.
Apparently I do well enough in that interview to be granted a second interview involving the same hiring manager, a software engineer, the operations manager, and a contracted IT support staff person. Again, these interviews were conducted on Zoom and took roughly over 2 hours. Some of the questions were regarding issues of managerial exposition and I felt my lack of experience in that field did not help me. At the end of the meeting, I discuss compensation and next steps with Color's Tech Recruiter Lead.
Three weeks later, I get an email from the Tech Recruiter Lead saying basically "no bueno" and that was the end of my Color adventure.
