I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at College Board in Oct 2025
Interview
I reached out to the recruiter and they responded to me quickly. The recruiter call was not very professional. In the middle of the call, their background was blurred, and an adult woman obviously walked in with a towel after getting out of the shower. I was shocked to say the least at how insane that was to witness.
I was moved forward to the second round and answered well to the rapid fire questions. I was pretty disappointed with the level of the interview and their description of their technical problems -- the role and team presents as a place where you would not grow as an individual. I was told by the recruiter they would get back to for a round three and was ghosted. I never followed up as it does not seem like a place that I can grow or learn from knowledgable

Other Senior Software Engineer interview reviews for College Board
They took long, basically ghosted. First was hiring manager interview and then a month later they said that they were still conducting interviews and that they would get back to me the next week. Haven't heard anything from them since. Crappy.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at College Board in Sept 2024
Interview
I completed a "one and done" whereby we scheduled an hour and thirty minutes to do a technical. I met with a panel of other engineers (they didn't introduce themselves or let me introduce myself) and they started firing questions off right from the get-go. Most of the questions revolved around AWS and infrastructure, which isn't too uncommon; however, panelists liked to drill down into some random obscure pieces of information I couldn't recall all the details for and then made an off-hand comment on how good engineers should know this information. The entire interview felt awkward - I tried to be interpersonal; however, I feel like the panelists didn't have much for soft skills so I didn't really feel any excitement to work with these folks and maybe it's not a culture fit. I occasionally got offhand remarks like "you should Google it" or "good engineers should know this". I think I did fairly well, however maybe not, since we had booked an hour and thirty minutes and they informed me they were "at time" just after the first hour (who knows? I was the only one on video most of the meeting with the exception of one other person who never seemed cracked a smile)
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience interviewing with us—we’re sorry it wasn’t better. We strive to create a welcoming and respectful environment for all candidates. Your feedback is invaluable and will be used to improve our interview process.
