      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CoStar Group in Jan 2022

      Interview

Originally lost my application and called me 5 months later. Had to fill out the exact same application other than it having the previous year on it. Got called in for an interview and spent 3 hours there. When I initially asked how long the interviews usually take, I was told 1 hour. Most of my time was spent waiting. When I finally got to the first “interviewer” it was a current employee who basically told me everything he did in a day. I asked about the giant TVs with numbers on them (we passed about 20 of them before we got to his desk) and he looked at me like I shouldn’t have asked that. But then explained that it helps them visualize their metrics and that some people even make it a competition. I asked him what kind of metrics I could expect to have if I got the job and again he gave me this look of like “you are really messing up here, don’t ask about metrics if you want this job”. I think something snapped in him because he then gave me honest answers and even said he wouldn’t tell anyone I asked about it. Then he tried to prepare me for the mock call that was about to happen. That part was fairly straightforward but when I got on the phone with the employee pretending to be the client, they tried to trip me up intentionally by asking something that they knew wasn’t gone over in mock call prep. Thankfully the person I was beside already had this happen before, warned me it might happen before the call, and even took over after he heard them ask it. It’s honestly not a bad “test” to see if you can think on your feet but at a place like this, that isn’t taken into consideration. They only care about checking boxes and the box that says “did the interviewee answer all the questions correctly” wouldn’t have gotten checked for me if I wasn’t told about it beforehand. After that I waited about 45 minutes to have a manager ask me about who I would talk to to try and get info if a broker wasn’t cooperating. After that it was another 30 minutes or so waiting in the kitchenette for “the next person” who just walked me out…

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at CoStar Group (London, England)

      Interview

The interview is three stages. The online test, interview over the phone with HR, then finally a virtual interview. It was my first interview in a while, also my first virtual interview. I didn't have the best preparation to be honest, no excuses, I could have performed much better. Anyway, the interviewer said that I would get a response by the following week. I did not hear back after a week, I then called the HR lady, she said she'll get back to me. The following week, I receive an email saying that the hiring team have not met and made a decision. In my mind, the longer it takes to receive a response, it is most likely your not successful. Anyway, a following two weeks had passed, still no response, wtf. So now its been a month, I then emailed the HR lady, as I still thought they may be an ever so slight chance of me securing the role (its the hope that dies last). In my email, I mention that I have never been an interview process like this, keep candidates waiting for a response for a month, particularly from a firm that generates over $1billion in revenue. This has caused so much anxiety, just waiting for an answer. In my email, I said please provide me an answer, whatever it is, or I consider myself unsuccessful. Finally, a reply, you have not been successful. I would not apply to this place ever again. Don't leave candidates waiting, it's unprofessional and causes a lot of undue stress.
