If you get through the online application process which is fairly time-consuming in itself, you are invited to an assessment day in London with a number of other individuals (at my assessment centre there were at least 30 of us). You are placed into groups, and, with your groups, you rotate through the various tasks that they set for you that day. There is a group task, where you are asked to defend a brief that you have been given; a policy task, where you create a topline document, picking out the critical information and presenting it in a comprehensive way; a one-to-one presentation, where you brainstorm and present solutions based on a problem you have been given, and, finally, your competency based interview. Oh, and somewhere in there you'll be asked to verify your online assessment results (ie, retake the tests).
It is a LONG day. You start at 8 AM, and finish anywhere between 5-6 PM. You do get a sandwich lunch and a break, but it is fairly exhausting!
