Interview
Round 1 (Online Assessment):
This was an online test with no option to revisit previous questions. The total time was divided among three sections:
Aptitude: 18 questions.
Data Interpretation: This section was slightly tough. It's important not to waste too much time on a single question.
SQL: Questions related to database queries and concepts.
From this assessment, 20 students were shortlisted for interviews.
Round 2 (HR/Behavioral + Technical):
This interview started with an introduction and some interaction-based questions to assess how you think and interact.
Key Scenario: Staying on-campusThe interviewer asked whether you would prefer staying inside the campus or outside, and why.
Key Scenario: NMICET and Career ChoicesYou were asked about NMICET (National Institute of Technology Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test), which likely tested your knowledge about your field and why you chose to pursue an MCA.
Aptitude Questions:
Clock ProblemYou were asked to calculate the angle between the minute and hour hand at 3:15.
Swap Two Numbers Without a Third VariableYou first explained how to solve this using bit manipulation but the interviewer wanted a mathematical solution, so you later explained using the addition method.
Optimizing a SubqueryThe interviewer tested your SQL skills by asking about query optimization techniques for subqueries.
Round 3 (Technical):
This round also began with a brief introduction but focused more on assessing your technical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Key Technical Questions:
Decision TreeYou were asked if you knew what a Decision Tree was and then given a scenario to work through.
Scenario: You were the sales manager of a sports store in Chennai with two options to increase sales:
Provide a membership card.
Reduce the price of products.
You were tasked with drawing the Decision Tree based on attributes you selected and explaining your approach. Your explanation seemed to impress the interviewer.
Canteen Manager ProblemYou were given a scenario where a canteen manager asks for help in understanding decreased sales and requests a solution to improve them.
Follow-up Question:You were asked how you would collect data from the canteen for analysis and what types of data you would need to perform this analysis.
I was able to answer both scenarios properly, and the interviewer was impressed with my approach.
This round heavily focused on problem-solving, decision-making, and data analysis, showcasing your technical knowledge and approach to solving real-life business problems.
The interviewer concluded by asking if you had any questions, which gave you the opportunity to clarify or discuss further aspects of the role or company.
Round 4 (HR):
In this round, the interviewer began by introducing herself and then asked about how you managed the transitions in your academic and career paths.
Other Questions:
You were asked about your preferred work location.
You were asked if any of your family members work at Citi.
This round lasted approximately 5-10 minutes, and 7 students were shortlisted for the HR round, with 5 being selected further.
