      VP in NYC Interview

      25 Nov 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Citco

      Interview

Unfortunately, it was the worst interview I had ever had in my life. A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn, telling me that there was no JD since it was a "confidential search". In hindsight, it was a red flag that I shouldn't have ignored. I sent my resume to the recruiter, and the hiring manager reached out to me couple of days later to schedule an interview. The hiring manager was a no-show at the interview. I waited for 10 minutes and sent a follow up note, and then they got back to me after 30 minutes that they had had a "technical issue". Well, that is fine, but they could have sent me a quick email that they were experiencing a technical issue. So for me, it seemed like they just forgot about the interview. The interview was rescheduled. 10 minutes into the conversation, I could see they clearly lost an interest in me. And while I was still explaining about my experience, they said I was not qualified for the role because my resume said I only had XYZ experience while they were looking for ABC experience. It was clearly stated on my resume that my experience was within XYZ area, so I didn't quite understand why they wanted to talk to me to begin with. I didn't even apply for the company. Obviously, they didn't even look at my resume. They just wasted my time twice, one was a no-show, and the other was just a meaningless conversation. I found the hiring manager’s communication was unpleasant and not engaging, and I would not want to work with this individual. Also - I found it interesting that they didn’t even know how to pronounce my current employer who is the world’s top 10 financial institution.
