I unfortunately had a very negative experience interviewing with Citadel. My first-round interview felt rushed and dismissive. During my responses, I was interrupted with comments like “ok, that’s all I need,” before I had finished answering the question. I had also prepared several questions about the role and team, but some were met with responses like “yeah, I wouldn’t know that,” which made the conversation feel unproductive. At times I would have my responses rephrased rather than being allowed to finish explaining them. The tone of the conversation felt curt and personally came across as belittling.
That experience honestly made me want to withdraw from the process, but I continued out of courtesy. Unfortunately, the second interview left a similar impression. The responses to my answers were very deadpan, often being met with just “sure,” before moving to the next question. The interaction again felt dismissive and uncomfortable, and it made me wish I had withdrawn after the first round. I saw here on Glassdoor that interviews with Citadel tend to be positive or neutral for the most part, so I kept wondering why I was treated the way I was.
Interestingly, I noticed no diversity within the function when going on LinkedIn, which also stood out to me.
Overall, the interview experience left me with the impression that the environment might not have been the right fit for me, and I wish I had trusted my initial instincts earlier in the process.
