Fairly easy process. It's really about seeing if you mesh well with the judge and whether you're a good writer or not; if you have the potential to become a good writer.
I interviewed at Circuit Court of Cook County (Chicago, IL)
Interview
Judge and current clerk were very nice and friendly and made me feel at ease. They made it feel more like a nice conversation than a high pressure interview. Even though I didn’t get the position, I’m still glad that I got to talk to them. They even sent my resume and other documents to other judges at the court in case they were looking for a new clerk.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Circuit Court of Cook County (Chicago, IL)
Interview
The interview process was conversational. It was with the judge and the judge's law clerk. They wanted to know my genuine interest in the judge and the types of cases that the judge sees. It was half interview, half trying to sell my on the externship.
