4 rounds of interview (reporting lead, co-worker, CEO/founder, co-worker)+ 1 initial call with Recruiter.
Initial call with recruiter was straightforward but felt a little dubious when the recruiter was trying to justify the reasons to join them (given that I had just applied, definitely meant I was interested and keen). Response time was quick throughout. Mentioned at the start that I would need 3 rounds = 2 culture, 1 technical (w reporting manager). The initial 2 rounds were great - met people who really know what they are doing (functionally) and why they are doing (industry impact).
It all went down a little during the 3rd Rd. Interviewer identified the company as Tech and not Edtech, when the company's main business and clients are in education. Asked if I had seen the cultures and values of the company and which are the ones I identify with, but it was not published on their site or Linkedin. Since it didnt go too well, I was recommended to go for another round of interview, with another stakeholder. During this time, I read updated reviews of the company here and confirmed my intuition about the culture and way of hiring. The fact that I didnt meet another person from the founding team, but someone who is reporting to the previous interviewer, felt like the decision was already made before the interview happened. I received the outcome shortly after the final interview and it was not surprising at all.
Its a great company with a great product, but after my final interview, I had already decided that the culture would not be suitable for me, based on the way they hire. I wish the best for the company.
