      Cashier/Kid Check Attendant/Birthday Host Interview

      28 Jan 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Foothill Ranch, CA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Chuck E. Cheese (Foothill Ranch, CA)

      Interview

I had a total of 3 interviews. First interview went great, a manager named Silvia interviewed me. She asked basic questions, and then said that all interviewees were required to get up and dance with Chuck E. Cheese when the music came on. Second interview was with another manager named Raul, he was really calm and soft spoken. Third interview was with the General Manager named Heather. She asked me questions about my availability, my previous job experience, etc. She told me about how I could potentially be a birthday host which is in my opinion one of the more advanced positions there. She said she would start me off at Kid Check first though. So I did Kid Check for a few months then did Birthday Host. I hated doing both of the positions. As a birthday host, the customers are very rude, you have a minimum of 2 hours with them for their party and they're needy and impatient. They don't tip you after all your hard work. You have to be very quick on your feet, and you cant be absent minded or forgetful. There's a lot of interacting and a lot to remember. You also never get a chance to sit down. Usually they will schedule you for an 8 hour shift with 3-4 parties youll have to do, its HARD. I will tell you that. Kid Check Attendant is so incredibly boring, all you do is sit there and wait for people to come in and leave. you check their stamps and stamp them and that's pretty much it. you also are responsible for keeping your station clean. Cashier is one of the way more fun jobs. I personally love handling cash and being able to use the POS system. I don't know why, its just so fun to me. You mostly take debit or credit cards, but you'll get customers giving you money most of the time too. They also use coupons frequently so you'll have to learn how to look the coupons up. learning the POS system is very easy and its fun. if you like handling cash. You have to be a very good listener, as there are a lot of screaming kids if you work a weekend shift. During the week, it is very quiet and dead. Overall it makes a good first job, but not something you need to keep for years. No one should stay at this company for years. Pay is very low, only $8/hr.
